Jason Castro's Debut Album Out Now

By iWontSTFU On April 13, 2010 Under News

It is about time: Jason Castro’s self-titled debut is out today via Atlantic Records!  Head over to his official site to watch a special release day video blog straight from the season 7 American Idol alum.  Jason will be supporting the album on the road when he embarks on his first major, headlining tour, kicking off April 17th in his hometown of Dallas.

Be sure to tune in to The Ellen DeGeneres show on April 22 to catch a performance of Jason’s single “That’s What I’m Here For” and check out some reviews of the album below.

Entertainment Weekly:
The American Idol season 7 finalist’s debut album comes on like an early spring day.  You can feel the sun shining through hummable tracks like “closer,” but hints of a harsher season remain on “It Matters to Me” and the heartbreaking “You Can Always Come Home.” (FYI:  The deluxe version, with six extra tracks, is well worth springing for.)

US Weekly:
Dreadlocked Jason Castro gently strummed his way to fame as the third runner-up on American Idol’s 2008 season.  The singer and guitarist’s debut album offers more samples of his light, Jason Mraz-esque pop sound, and includes his lauded Idol version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”  And Castro, who just wed longtime girlfriend Mandy Mayhall in January, fills much of the CD with tender lyrics about love.
