FlashbackFriday: Whitney Houston – Exhale (Shoop Shoop)

By iWontSTFU On January 29, 2010 No Comments

“Exhale” is probably a song that people tend to overlook in comparison to Houston’s biggest hits “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” or “I Will Always Love You”. However, the soundtrack for the movie “Exhale” debuted at #1 in the USA and was only pushed away one week later because Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men released their hit “One Sweet Day”.

iWontSTFU’s Top 15 Albums of 2009

By iWontSTFU On December 31, 2009 No Comments

I’m going to present my favorite albums of 2009. I considered only album which release dates were in 2009.

#1

MARIAH CAREY – MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL
Cover

Mariah came back with an incredible album. I listened to it like crazy. She was able to give her fans a bit of all her sides: Old Mariah, hip-hop Mariah, pop Mariah. Unfortunately the album wasn’t as succesful as it deserves to be in my opinion. But in the end it’s whatever to me because hey I got an album that I can jam to for years.

#2

THE FAME MONSTER

Initially meant to be a re-.release Lady Gaga declared “The Fame Monster” to be a normal album with only eight tracks. However,

BET Reviews Whitney Houston’s Listening Party

By iWontSTFU On July 22, 2009 2 Comments

Clive Davis hosted a listening party for Whitney Houston’s comeback album “I Look To You” in New York City yesterday. Among the listeners were Alicia Keys, Monica, Swizz Beats, LA Reid and of course Whitney herself. 9 songs were played and received good feedback.

1. “Million Dollar Bill” (written and produced by Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats)

An up-tempo, joyful track about love and probably one of the funkiest songs Whitney has ever done. “Million Dollar Bill” has an amazing bass line and almost recalls early Michael Jackson in Off The Wall. The catchy hook, “You make me feel like a million dollar bill.” Her vocal is strong with some power notes toward the end. The song has an Alicia Keys sound but fits for Whit — it’s current without making her seem like she is trying to compete with teenagers. The song received a standing ovation.

2. “Nothin’ But

Whitney Houston reveals Official Tracklist

By iWontSTFU On July 20, 2009 1 Comment

I Look To You
1. Million Dollar Bill
2. Nothin’ But Love
3. Call You Tonight
4. I Look To You
5. Like I Never Left (feat. Akon)
6. A Song For You
7. I Didn’t Know My Own Strength
8. Worth It
9. For The Lovers
10. I Got You
11. Salute

“I Look To You” is slated to be released on Sep 1, 09. I think we all are pretty unsure how her comeback will turn out. I just hope Whitney won’t blame herself by giving us an album full of songs that don’t remind us that Whitney was once “The Voice”. By only putting out 11 songs the collaboration with Akon will most likely one of the highlights on the album.
