Yelawolf – Trunk Muzik 0-60 Review
It’s always a good sign if a debut album features already established artists. On Trunk Muzik 0-60 you will find collaborations with Gucci Mane, Raekwon and Bun B, to name a few. However, it has to be taken into consideration that most of the songs off his album have already been on the mixtape “Trunk Muzik”. Consequently if you’ve followed his steps already there won’t be much too be suprised about when listening to the album.
And one thing we can’t deny and is propably also the reason why people might take a look at him: He’s white. But this shouldn’t be a factor on which we base our opinion and judgement on.
So what’s the album like? Well, it does have a few different elements in it. For example, the first track “Get The Fuck Up!” reminds me of Lil Wayne’s attempt to mix rock/metal music with rap. Not sure if this will ever completely work out.
Others as for example “I Just Wanna Party” have the typical contemporary hip hop sound.
Even though Yelawolf, whose real name is Michael Wayne Atha, has some nice runs on the album, I’m not totally blown away, neither am I fully convinced by his voice at all.
This should not make you not want to check out his first commercial release because you just might feel his flow and honestly the album is not bad.
My personal favorites are “Daddy’s Lambo”, “I Just Wanna Party”, “Pop The Trunk”.
